We’re putting out a massive load of transplants in our greenhouse today! The mild spring temps have given us a great bump to get these plants out earlier than usual. We’re excited to share the bounty with the community. If you haven’t already given it a look, consider signing up for our CSA which provides you and your family with weekly (or biweekly) vegetables throughout the summer and fall seasons. Another informative field day yesterday @sunfireranch. Folks came out to learn about how we push crops in our greenhouses and Farmer Casey gave a direct sowing demonstration using some of our commonly used tools. Thanks to all those who attended. We hope learned something to use at your farm or garden! The chillier weather today gave us an opportunity

The chillier weather today gave us an opportunity to do some harvesting in our greenhouse and then get a small lesson from farmer Casey about farming with ecology in mind. These beds contain a diverse cover crop that we seeded all the way back in early winter! A cover crop is a crop seeded before or after a vegetable crop which helps maintain a habitat for microbes in the soil which like to live on plant roots. Think of it as temporary housing before they move onto the luxury flats of a tomato or pepper plants roots. Our diverse cover crop contains edible crops like arugula, spinach, fava bean, peas, and mustard greens. All which you can see us harvesting here! It’s a win-win! The microbes get a place to thrive and the farm gets early food to sustain ourselves! With Earth Day just around the corner, you too can come out and learn how small, regenerative farms help #sustain the local community and can help make the Earth a better place. Join us this Saturday from 1-3 pm for a farm tour and ways to give yourself a greener thumb!
